Overview
Newark has well-established business organizations that help their members – corporations, professionals, small businesses, universities and not-for-profits – gain access to business peers and information, increase their organization's visibility and support efforts to enhance Newark's economic competitiveness:
Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP)
(NRBP) is a broad-based business organization that offers its members frequent networking opportunities, business information programs, strong business advocacy and one-on-one attention.
Newark Alliance
The Newark Alliance is a non-profit organization comprised of key leaders from some of New Jersey’s major corporations, Newark’s higher education community and civic and non-profit organizations. The Newark Alliance works in partnership with government, civic organizations, labor, the non-profit sector and the community to improve Newark’s economy and public educational system.
The Council for Higher Education in Newark (CHEN)
(CHEN) is a consortium of four public institutions of higher education – Essex Community College, The New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University and The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – that works to promote cooperative academic programs, develop joint research projects and develop public service activities benefiting community needs. Science Park, which will encompass more than 1 million square feet of laboratory, office, incubator and retail space, as well as mixed housing and a new math and science high school at full build-out, is a collaborative venture of the group.
